The Peer Supervisor of the Rapid Response Team oversees the provision of peer support services in crisis situations. This role involves supervising peer support specialists, ensuring quality service delivery, and collaborating with other crisis response team members to provide comprehensive support to individuals experiencing mental health crises.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Supervision and Leadership:
- Supervise and provide guidance to peer support specialists.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss cases, share experiences, and provide updates.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and best practices in peer support.
- Oversee the provision of peer support services during mobile crisis responses.
- Assist in de-escalating crisis situations using peer support techniques.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals, law enforcement, and other crisis team members.
- Ensure timely and appropriate follow-up with individuals post-crisis.
Program Development and Evaluation:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of peer support programs and protocols.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of peer support interventions.
- Collect and analyze data to improve service delivery and outcomes.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required.
Client and Community Engagement:
- Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals in crisis.
- Facilitate connections to community resources and ongoing support services.
- Educate the community about the role and value of peer support in crisis intervention.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with clients.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage schedules and assignments for peer support specialists.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Handle administrative tasks such as timesheets, reports, and other documentation.
- Participate in staff training and development sessions.
- Lived experience with mental health challenges and recovery.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably within a mental health or crisis response setting.
- Strong understanding of peer support principles and practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in high-stress situations and manage crisis effectively.
- Knowledge of local mental health resources and services.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to perform the physical tasks associated with crisis response, including but not limited to, driving, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to manage stressful and potentially traumatic situations with composure and professionalism.
