RadiFi Credit Union (formerly Jax Federal Credit Union) is seeking a Collections - Repossession Specialist to manage the primary responsibilities include all administration, correspondence, and documentation throughout the repossession process. Ensure compliance by following up on repossessions from requested status to sale. Contribute to the success of the Collections Department by performing Collections duties in accomplishment of the Collections departmental goals.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for repossessed collateral processing from requested status to ultimate sale, updating tracking records, and perform file maintenance duties. Ensure timelines are met with the process of repossessions from assignment to Repossession Company, transportation, pricing, requesting Repo title, 10 day notice, detail of sale notice (deficiency balance), charge off of deficiency balance and proper assignment of deficiency balance for potential recovery. Ensure all metrics are met within the process and perform proper follow up to issues. Ensure extended processing times with assigned repossessions are reviewed consistently. Ensure immediate follow up (same day received) to every Mechanics lien, collateral or legal review to ensure the Mechanics lien is legal and enforceable. Assist the team with contacting delinquent members.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with team members, internal partners, associates and external business partners. Provide top service to internal / external business partners and members "Every Member, Every Time." Seeks and encourages "win-win" outcomes. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by assisting others within the Collections Department.
Maximize the collection and / or recovery of credit union assets from delinquent loans by phone and mail. Take appropriate action to bring current or recommend appropriate action to recover credit union assets to include timely recommendations to follow up for foreclosure or repossession of collateral. Insure that collection activity is both with credit union policy, procedures and relevant regulations. Notify Manager-Collections if issues surface. Identify and inform management of potential underwriting or legal issues that may be found.
Maintain accurate and complete records of all collection, pre and post repossession. Offers financial counseling to members as needed. Ensures that accurate information is given, documented and daily assignments are completed with high quality to minimize errors and losses to RadiFi daily.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Experience
Two years to five years of prior Collections experience in a Credit Union or similar financial services environment and / or working with the Symitar system is desirable.
Education / Certifications / Licenses
High school education or GED is required. A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school is a plus. Length of time performing similar duties in a related position will be considered.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and / or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and / or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other Skills
- Must possess an intermediate level proficiency using MS Excel which could involve developing and working with PivotTables to include using vertical lookup features.
- Ability to analyze data from multiple sources and effectively research the data provided for accuracy.
- Strong math aptitude, reconciliation and balancing skills are required. Prior Accounting experience is desirable.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, percentages, rates, ratio, and yields.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
