GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES :
Assist technologist(s), nurses, Radiologists with the daily duties required to provide quality patient care and IR procedure workflow. This includes interpersonal relationships with all staff members, patients and radiologists. (The assistant will not perform actual imaging procedures.)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Greet patient and provide instructions on procedure.
- Prepare the patient properly for his or her exam.
- IR room and exam set up and turnover. Keeping an efficient continuous workflow of procedures.
- Screen patients for safety, medical history, labs, etc. and prep requirements prior to procedure. Communicate information to technologists and Radiologists.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with all necessary supplies. Assist site staff in ordering and receiving processes.
- Assist in managing crash cart supplies and keeping medications up to date.
- Clean exam rooms following each procedure and make preparations for all subsequent procedures.
- Help with patient’s post-procedure care and respond professionally to any concerns or needs.
- Answer incoming site calls and direct, assist accordingly. Follow up phone calls to patients as needed.
- Assist radiologist and technologist during procedures as needed, in multiple modalities.
- Understanding of administrative tasks and ability to assist in other departments when not required in the tech areas.
- Ability to perform venipuncture processes
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Other duties as needed per Center Manager / Director. These will vary within individual departments and imaging centers as needed.
- The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION : High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE : Previous health care experience or education. Radiology experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE : BLS.

ABILITIES :
PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS : Requires full range of body motion. Must be able to lift / carry / move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS : Medical office, exam and treatment rooms. Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases and other conditions common to radiology setting. Work location may be variable.
