Conservation Corps New Mexico (CCNM)
Conservation Corps New Mexico, a program of Conservation Legacy and AmeriCorps partner, aims to continue the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930's. CCNM is focused on connecting youth, young adults, and recent era military veterans with conservation service work projects on public lands. CCNM operates programs across southern New Mexico and western Texas that engage individuals and strengthen communities through service and conservation. The CCNM Las Cruces office manages the Individual Placement Program.
Mentorship
These Individual Placement Positions are unique development opportunities. Interns are paired with a local supervisor and gain technical, hands-on experience in the work of these organizations or agencies. Site supervisors commit to facilitate career development; provide an introduction to numerous pathways within the conservation field; and create accessible, meaningful, learning opportunities and experiences for interns.
Position Summary :
Conservation Corps New Mexico (CCNM) Individual Placement Program partners with federal, state, and local agencies, and nonprofits to provide paid AmeriCorps opportunities throughout the state. Gain valuable experience while serving with partner agencies! Our program is designed to open doors for entry-level or experienced individuals with varying levels of education.
Our internships focus on a diverse range of subjects such as geology, biology, hydrology, botany, archaeology, environmental planning, recreation, conservation, GIS, public outreach, and more. Anyone with an interest or experience in natural resource management is highly encouraged to apply!
Members receive a $500-600 / wk living stipend, depending on the position. Some positions offer an additional housing allowance and are health benefit eligible. Upon successful completion, members will receive an AmeriCorps Education Award ranging from $1300-6400, depending on the length of the term.
- Public Lands Corps (PLC) Certificate available may be available for Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service, and National Park Service terms 4.5 months and longer. Certificate allows for competitive hiring for USA jobs / government jobs (must be between ages 18-30 inclusive, 35 for veterans, at beginning of term for PLC eligibility).
