Job Summary:
Working within a multi-disciplinary successful, dedicated team, the Associate Consultant/Consultant will be responsible for assisting project managers in performing analyses, modeling, cost evaluations, and data management in support of public sector water, wastewater, solid waste, and stormwater enterprises; as well as general municipal government activities. Our services include long-range financial planning, utility cost allocation and rate-setting, and management consulting services. You will be responsible for enabling the team to provide exceptional client service and deliverables related to multi-disciplinary projects, including utility customer and billing data assessment, financial and rate modeling, GIS data analysis, and report writing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with Project Managers to develop long-term solutions to complex utility management and data management needs.
- Assist the team in the development and execution of project work
- Analyze large and complex datasets in MS Access, MS Excel, and/or ESRI GIS. These datasets may include utility customer data, parcel data, imagery, and non-metered service attributes.
- Prepare MS Excel based computer models to support a variety of financial and management studies including projects related to financial planning, customer data and customer service, stormwater service attributes analysis, revenue requirements, cost of service, capital recovery fees, and rate and fee design and financial feasibility studies under the direction of team members.
- Assist the team in the development of project deliverables such as bill files, work flow diagrams, GIS maps and analyses, financial models, utility program plans, rate ordinances, customer service support materials, financial models, and public outreach materials.
- Conduct research to support project work and development of deliverables.
- Participate in preparation of proposals and interviews.
- Utilize technical writing skills to produce and edit reports, memoranda, and presentations.
- Facilitate presentation of findings to clients and other stakeholders.
- Maintain effective, professional attributes while dealing with clients & colleagues.
- Compile notes, summarize information, and write reports
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (public administration, mathematics, finance, engineering, economics, or other related fields)
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Excellent written skills including reporting of analytical results
- Excellent oral communication skills including presenting analytical results to clients or stakeholders
- Diligent, team-player attitude
- Ability to work within a small team that may be spread across a broad geography
- Willingness to travel overnight for project and job functions
- Experience using MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access and/or relational databases
- Ability to maintain professionalism and balance multiple projects simultaneously

The salary range for an Associate Consultant position is $70k to $85k, and for a consultant position is $75k to 100k. Compensation depends on education, experience, and location.
