Job Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible for directing and overseeing construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring compliance with safety and building regulations. Key responsibilities include assisting the project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee CRAFT employees regarding construction, operations, and/or maintenance tasks and assignments at a project site.
- Manage and develop 1 to 5 direct reports, including Project Engineers, Superintendents, or Interns.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and overall performance of assigned projects.
- Review and maintain quality control.
- Track progress of project compared to Baseline Schedule.
- Review and manage job cost on a regular basis.
- Prepare and negotiate change orders when necessary.
- Ensure accurate and prompt payment from Owners and to vendors and subcontractors.
- Coordinate and communicate project activities with inspectors and owner representatives.
- Communicate project progress, issues, and needs with supervisors in a timely manner.
- Prepare a 3-week lookahead schedule for the project.
- Prepare and update P6 Project Schedule.
- Plan project activities at least 6 months ahead.
- Assign resources to the project in terms of equipment, labor, and material.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Gain the respect of others by being fair, honest, reliable, and hardworking.
- Complete all necessary paperwork.
- Perform duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Other unlisted duties may be assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications. Spanish speaking is also preferred but not required.
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
- Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of bridges, roads, and other related structures.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
- Ability to plan projects from start to finish.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management required.
- Must have five or more years of experience with heavy highway construction, including road, highway, bridge, and paving experience.
