Job Summary
The Surgery Center Porter plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the surgical environment by providing essential support to medical staff and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe facility. This position involves the transportation of patients, equipment, and supplies, as well as assisting in the overall readiness of the surgery center. This is a part-time position offering up to 29 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Transportation: Safely transport patients to and from surgical rooms, recovery areas, and other departments, ensuring comfort and security.
- Equipment Management: Assist in the movement and preparation of surgical equipment and supplies, including cleaning and sterilization as needed.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of all areas within the surgery center, including waiting rooms, hallways, and surgical suites, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Assistance to Staff: Support nursing and surgical teams with tasks such as setting up operating rooms and restocking supplies.
- Emergency Response: Be familiar with emergency protocols and assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient transport and any incidents that occur during shifts.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in healthcare or relevant fields preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting or as a porter preferred but not required.
