This pivotal role focuses on providing leadership in engineering and project management for systems and equipment targeted at enhancing energy efficiency and electrical distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects from inception through completion, specifically in energy efficiency and electrical distribution.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to meet DPW energy reduction metrics.
- Identify and execute projects that bolster reliability and mitigate risks within the electrical distribution network.
- Manage project budgets effectively, ensuring adherence to planned expenditures and timely completion of project milestones.
- Oversee capital projects valued at $1MM and above, ensuring compliance with established engineering standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE).
- Direct and coordinate the work of designers, maintenance personnel, and external contractors during construction and recovery phases.
- Facilitate problem-solving efforts during electrical outages, leading teams to analyze failures and develop corrective strategies.
- Provide technical guidance and support for major capital projects that influence energy efficiency outcomes and the plant’s distribution network.
- Collaborate with local power companies to identify energy efficiency projects and secure available rebates.
- Conduct arc flash and short circuit studies, addressing any issues as necessary through capital or expense measures.
- Availability for on-call support during off-shift hours and weekends as needed in a 24⁄7 manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in project management principles and practices.
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Familiarity with industry standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE) and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering and project management with a focus on large-scale projects.
- Proven expertise in managing projects exceeding $1MM in value.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
