What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prep Cook position at Railbirds?
Job Title: Prep Cook
Reports to: Kitchen Manager
Compensation Type: $16 / $18 Hourly DOE
Part Time Hours: Must be available weekends
Summary of Position: Cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the daily prep list
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned items.
o Uses Recipe Card for preparing all product; does not rely on the memory of oneself or others.
o Weigh or measure ingredients
o Understand and comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
o Clean and sanitize workstation area including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, oven, turbo chef, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
o Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spillage.
o Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide cooks with needed items.
o Carry food supplies, equipment and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
o Promptly inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low.
o Stir and strain soups, stocks and sauces.
o Complete opening and closing checklists and assist others in opening and closing the kitchen
Qualifications:
o Be able to work in hot and loud environment for a long period of time
o Be physically able to lift, bend, reach and stoop.
o Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
o Be able to safely lift bags, cases and stacks weighing up to 50 pounds.
o Be able to precisely follow recipes and instructions.
