Job Summary:
The Engineer V applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices across broad areas of assignments and related fields. This role utilizes advanced techniques to modify or extend theories and practices in sciences and disciplines to complete assignments. The Engineer V will work on major projects or multiple projects of moderate scope with complex features.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
CAD Design: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings, plans, and layouts for rail infrastructure and related components.
Technical Expertise: Apply knowledge of rail design principles to solve complex engineering challenges, including developing detailed construction cost estimates and project specifications.
Technical Support: Collaborate with a team of engineers to provide technical support in the development of rail projects, ensuring design meets quality and client standards.
Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data relevant to rail projects.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with design requirements.
Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure designs are error-free and meet client standards.
Mentorship: Act as a mentor to junior engineers and designers, providing guidance and support to promote their professional growth.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet business needs.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proficiency with electronic communication, including e-mail and text, as well as standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to interact with other staff
Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
8+ years of prior experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masters degree or equivalent
Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
Experience producing drawings with CAD software
Experience leading technical discipline teams
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:
Professional Engineer (PE)
Member of a professional practice organization, national board member or officer, or national technical or policy committee member
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise all staff necessary to complete assignments
Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
Prepare proposals to provide professional services
