Summary
The Consumer Loan Officer is responsible for establishing consumer lending relationships for Railway Credit Union. The Consumer Loan Officer accomplishes this by evaluating risk, selling RCU products, and promoting the Railway Credit Union brand. All these activities are guided by the established RCU policies and NCUA regulations. The individual in this role will advocate for, display and possess knowledge of, credit union philosophy and spirit.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Speak with members, and potential members, about various financial needs ranging from new accounts, CDs, loans, credit, collections, through various communication channels.
- Maintain positive attitude and project positive image of RCU in all internal and external interactions.
- Evaluate credit applications, determine risk and properly structure consumer loans in accordance with the RCU lending policy.
- Provide credit score enhancement services to members to help them understand how they can improve their individual credit score.
- Complete loan closing duties that include gathering all required documents, signatures, and confirming payment option with the member(s).
- An understanding of the lending rules and regulations and the impacts of external factors on lending growth.
- Bring forward ideas to Senior Consumer Loan Officer on how to grow our consumer lending portfolio.
- Identify and support methods to improve process efficiencies through procedures and technology systems.
- Accountable for consumer loan file closing process.
- Assist with loan maintenance on existing loans.
- Assist in the RCU collection process where necessary and where prudent to assist.
- Serve on various RCU committees as assigned.
- Actively participate in all RCU promotions and events to increase business opportunities from existing and potential members.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee regularly is required to walk, talk, carry, hear, and reach with hands. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, stand, crouch, stoop, kneel or crawl.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, between 7:00am to 5:00pm Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
