What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse Counselor position at RAINBOW'S END RECOVERY CENTER LLC?
Responsibilities & Duties (listed by priority):
Flexibility is a must for the position.
- Lead group therapy sessions daily.
- Provide individual counseling to evaluate client’s progress in treatment.
- Orient new clients to treatment and perform assessments.
- Create treatment plans and master problem lists using ASAM’s 6 dimensions.
- Screen potential new clients for appropriateness to treatment in a residential setting.
- Meet with client family members and perform family sessions as needed.
- Set up aftercare plans and provide referrals as necessary for discharging clients.
- Must be willing to work weekend hours and as necessary during the day.
- Work with case conceptualization along with other clinical staff.
- Must work effectively with other team members to be trained to meet the following abilities.
Essential Skills
- Must have the ability to lead and facilitate group interventions and techniques independently.
- Must have the ability to utilize effective communication and conflict management skills.
- Experience using Motivational Interviewing techniques preferred and knowledge of CBT.
- Understanding of relapse prevention skills and knowledge of Prochaska’s stages of change.
- Crisis Intervention when applicable.
- Physically able to lead outdoor excursions such as hiking, kayaking, fishing, and pertinent therapeutic experiential activities as planned.
- Utilize trauma-informed principles at all times.
Preferred but not necessary skills
- Knowledge of 12-step mission and purpose.
- Creativity in building unique group interventions based upon one's skillset.
- Love of outdoors.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience
