Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Team Leader to oversee our accounting operations and lead a high-performing team. This role requires a strong background in general ledger accounting, financial management, and public accounting, along with leadership skills to guide the team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting corporate finance initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the accounting team to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and compliance with industry regulations.
- Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, accrual accounting, and reconciliations.
- Ensure proper management of accounts payable processes and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Prepare and review regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.
- Develop and implement internal controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve financial processes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client financial inquiries, audits, and compliance-related matters.
- Collaborate with other departments to support corporate finance initiatives and improve financial operations.
- Mentor and develop team members through training, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Utilize Sage, QuickBooks Online, Keeper, Xero, Bill.com, and other accounting software to manage financial data effectively.
- Identify financial discrepancies and implement solutions to maintain financial integrity.
What You Bring to the Role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or management responsibilities.
- Public accounting experience and a strong understanding of financial management best practices.
- Start-up experience required.
- Advanced proficiency in general ledger accounting principles, journal entries, and accrual accounting.
- Extensive knowledge of accounts payable, payroll taxes, compliance, and audits.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Sage, QuickBooks Online, Keeper, Xero, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while effectively leading and mentoring a team.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Washington State tax laws and regulations is a plus.
