Position: Development Associate (Washington, DC hybrid)
Reporting to: Director of Individual Giving
Salary: $50,000-60,000k
Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Development Associate is responsible for directly supporting the development team to maintain effective fundraising operations and strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the general development email, SMS responses, and phone lines to support our Donor Care
Services. - Ensure accurate donor records in RAINN’s database, EveryAction.
- Assist with data clean-up projects and expanding department Standard Operating Procedures.
- Manage all aspects of the donor acknowledgment process.
- Track daily checks and EFT gifts through financial processes and prepare internal deposit detail summary and associated bank deposits.
- Support the team with virtual and in-person event logistics, including calendaring, invitations, and materials.
- Working with gift officers, assist with the planning and execution of small donor events and house
parties to build RAINN’s major giving capacity. - Communicate with third-party giving platforms to ensure all donors that give through them are
acknowledged and the platforms are actively promoting RAINN. - Maintain inventory of all Development materials and manage the production of materials as needed.
- Coordinate the CFC campaign including logistics, emails, and printing. Represent RAINN virtually
and/or in-person at CFC and other charity fairs as assigned. - Update the charity rating websites as necessary and maintain rating levels.
- Coordinate fundraising registrations in the states in coordination with our compliance partner.
- Support the development team in all special projects related to fundraising efforts.
- Maintain our peer-to-peer platform, support and expand relationships with our network of
volunteer fundraisers and manage all volunteer-led campaigns. - Through high-touch Donor Care, increase retention and annual value of the monthly (sustainer)
giving group to reach and exceed annual goals. - Provide general administrative and logistical support to the development team. Liaison with the
Office Manager, Finance Department, and IT regularly. - Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as identified to support the evolving needs of the development team and organizational priorities.
Position Specifications/Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
- Work must be performed in the DC office at least 3 times per week. Preference is given to those with
more frequent access to the office. - Solid working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Canva experience preferred.
- Experience with EveryAction or other donor databases is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and balance quickly shifting priorities.
- Exemplary organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly creative, flexible, adaptable and a self-starter.
- Personal commitment to RAINN's mission and values.
- Discretion when dealing with sensitive information and ability to discuss issues surrounding sexual
violence. - Interest in a fundraising career and experience in fundraising or marketing.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check (administered by RAINN).
RAINN Office Status: This position is based in Washington, DC, and requires onsite work at our headquarters a minimum of three days per week. Work schedules may vary so flexibility is essential. Periodic business travel to Washington, DC, will be required for onsite meetings, training sessions, and other events as necessary.
