Facility: Lutheran Home at Kane
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the RN Supervisor, the LPN Wing Supervisor is responsible for implementing the medical plan of care and overseeing the care of residents and high school students by the Nursing Assistants. The role ensures that care is delivered in accordance with the highest nursing standards and complies with State and Federal regulations. The ideal candidate is passionate about providing exceptional care and engaging with residents daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and document medications, treatments, and monitoring (e.g., glucose checks) as ordered, and report resident responses accordingly.
- Accurately transcribe physician orders and complete monthly summaries.
- Update care plans regularly in collaboration with Nursing Assistants, ensuring they reflect the resident's current health status.
- Notify RN Supervisor of significant changes in resident conditions.
- Communicate transfers of residents to family and department heads via email.
- Assist physicians with rounds, examinations, and treatments as necessary.
- Collect laboratory specimens and arrange for delivery to hospitals, documenting work in the Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR).
- Assist with post-mortem procedures when applicable, notifying department heads and facilitating necessary communications.
- Encourage resident participation in activities and oversee quality of life.
- Complete necessary documentation for incident reports, weights, vital signs, and resident belongings.
- Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked treatment areas.
- Supervise and guide Nursing Assistants to ensure effective care delivery.
- Perform duties as assigned by RN Supervisor, including evaluations and care plan reviews.
- Attend in-services, meetings, and conferences as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: Must possess a current LPN license in Pennsylvania or a temporary work permit at the time of the interview.
- Experience: Nursing Home experience is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) Required.
- COVID Vaccine (preferred but not required).
- Knowledge: Medical asepsis, body mechanics, personal care techniques, nursing theory, and application. Must comply with institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Skills: Strong communication, observation skills, and ability to follow verbal and written directives.
- Physical: Good physical health and mental alertness to perform essential job functions, and must be able to pass required physicals.

- Must be able to interact professionally and courteously with residents, visitors, and co-workers.
- Ability to manage time effectively and maintain equipment properly.
- Ability to accept responsibility and work independently or as part of a team.
