Job Overview
This BI Data Developer role offers a unique opportunity to design, develop, and maintain state-wide data solutions supporting over one million K-12 students, parents, teachers, and school staff. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing data-focused software solutions using Power BI, T-SQL, SSIS, and other BI tools to support critical business processes, data analysis, and reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities
Develop interactive data visualizations, analytics, dashboards, and reporting solutions using Power BI and related tools.
Develop T-SQL for database object creation and data manipulation (tables, views, functions, stored procedures, etc.).
Create ETL solutions using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data processing.
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and contribute to functional specifications.
Perform impact analysis on change requests and estimate development efforts.
Ensure high data quality by working closely with the core data team to establish business rules, data mappings, and transformation rules.
Support multiple SQL Server data repositories, analyze datasets for data integrity, and maintain data structure documentation.
Engage in Agile/Scrum activities, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Requirements
Must Have:
5 years of professional Data Development experience with relational database systems.
Strong expertise in Power BI and other Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization tools.
SQL Server development using T-SQL and SSIS, with experience in relational database modeling and design.
Deep understanding of query optimization, SQL indexing, and database performance tuning.
Ability to recognize and apply data systems development patterns and best practices.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
Proven ability to work independently while keeping management and team members informed.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be local to Phoenix, AZ, and willing to work on-site.
Nice to Have:
Working knowledge of Data Vault data modeling methodology.
Experience with Microsoft Azure data technologies.
Experience working on an Agile/Scrum team.
Familiarity with Education and/or Government sector data standards such as Ed-Fi, CEDS, or SIF.
