Position Title: Pest Control Technician
JOB SUMMARY
Performs pest control activities for assigned areas for the Raleigh Housing Authority. Work involves; inspecting assigned facilities/units; performing ongoing maintenance services; responding to complaints; resolving pest control issues; and maintaining required records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plans and organizes daily work routine.
- Establishes priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time management methodology; estimates expected time of completion of elements of work; establishes a personal schedule accordingly; and implements work activity in accordance with priorities and estimated schedules.
- Maintains calendar for quarterly and weekly pest control maintenance and inspection services for facilities and/or units.
- Handles pest control complaint work orders in a timely manner.
- Identifies pest control concerns (even under some extreme sanitation and/or clutter conditions); resolves concerns.
- Schedules and follows-up services as needed.
- Works with warehouse area to assure that supplies are in stock and kept as needed for seasonal use.
- Records pesticide applications such as when, where, what, and how pesticides were applies; makes copies of required forms for the state to review.
- Relays necessary information to supervisor and property manager.
- Drives and maintains assigned work vehicle.
- Adheres to all safety and housekeeping standards established by the Authority and various regulatory agencies; sees that the standards are not violated.
- Maintains licenses; attends required courses.
- Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform this job.
Certification, License, and Special Requirements:
- Valid North Carolina (NC) driver’s license; passes Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) check.
- Pest Control License- Category Phase (P); General Household-Phase (W); Termite and Wood Destroying Pest.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the practices, procedures, materials, tools, and equipment used in pest control.
- Knowledge of pesticide regulations.
- Knowledge of use and storage of chemicals used for the job along with labeling requirements.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
- Skill in planning and organizing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, manufacturer’s manuals, and specifications.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prepare simple reports and maintain applicable material and labor records.
- Ability to interact tactfully and with courtesy with all Authority departments and divisions, co-workers, supervisors, professionals, residents, and the general public.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to analyze and exercise judgment.
Physical Demands:
The work is light work and requires applying 10 pounds of force frequently exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, distinguishing among sounds, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity in data/color/observations/equipment/

Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands. However, work may occasionally be performed under some extreme sanitation and/or clutter conditions
