Who You Are
The ideal candidate will possess 7 years of experience in a general accounting role, specifically within the non-profit sector. Familiarity with multiple accounting software platforms is essential.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and deliver weekly management reports tailored to the unique needs of our non-profit entities.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow projections.
- Oversee accounting operations, including AP, AR, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS 990, and grant standards.
- Manage and refine internal controls, policies, and processes for transparency.
- Supervise accounting staff and drive team accountability.
- Optimize financial systems and implement automation for efficiency.
- Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support budget planning.
- Provide strategic financial guidance on cash flow, funding, and financial risks.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA or CMA preferred but not required).
- 7 years of accounting and financial management experience, with a strong focus on nonprofit organizations, including P&L oversight, financial reporting, and operational management.
- Deep understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards, with a willingness to research and resolve complex accounting issues as they arise.
- Strong grasp of accounting methodologies, financial processes, and internal controls to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and accounting software such as Sage Intacct and/or QuickBooks.
- Strong analytical skills, enabling you to break down complex problems systematically and find effective solutions.
- Ability to define and manage the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), driving insights to develop and deliver.
- Proven project and organizational management experience; engage with senior stakeholders and own delivery on key projects to move the organization forward.
