Position Purpose:

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, coordinates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching and learning at Ralston.


Essential Functions:

The following description is illustrative of the tasks and responsibilities associated with this position. It is not meant to be an inclusive list of every task or responsibility.

  • Assists in strategic plan development and execution of goals related to teaching and learning at the secondary and district level.
  • Coordinates with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning on leading the Teaching & Learning BOE subcommittee and the Committee on American Civics.
  • Leads the curriculum adoption process including programming for Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses.
  • Facilitates, support, and co-plan the development of professional learning opportunities.
  • Supervises CTE programing, including Perkins grant administration.
  • Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the K-12 instructional framework.
  • Serve as a primary source of support for principals related to teaching and learning, daily operations, school improvement, and program implementation.
  • Supervises district assessment and assessment analysis.
  • Interprets district policies and procedures related to curricular matters to staff, parents, community members, and the Board of Education.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of current programs as related to student achievement.
  • Reports to the Superintendent and Board of Education on an as needed basis.
  • Ensures compliance with Rule 10 reporting with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
  • Coordinates administrative meetings and trainings for administrative staff.
  • Provides updates to the board of Education on matters related to teaching and learning at the secondary level.
  • Coordinates summer school programming.
  • Supervises learning programs for secondary students outside of the normal school structure
  • Maintains a regular and predictable attendance history while employed by the district.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by theAssistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning or the Superintendent of Schools.


Equipment:

  • Uses standard school and office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephones.


Travel Requirements:

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction.
  • Knowledge of current educational technology and trends.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the ability to formulate action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding secondary curriculum.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written format.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with others.

Qualifications Profile:

  • Certification/License
    • Nebraska teaching certificate with endorsements in the areas of leadership, administration, supervision, curriculum and instruction, or equivalent.
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
    • Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience
    • Three years of secondary curriculum development and implementation preferred.
