Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our Restoration or Waterproofing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating construction projects and be skilled in analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, architects, subcontractors, and our internal project management team to develop accurate cost estimates and budgets.
To be successful in this position, you need to be analytically minded and a great problem solver. We are seeking applicants with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Additionally, you need to have strong organizational and time management skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and proposals to determine accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and analyze subcontractor bids for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and the project management team to ensure a clear understanding of the project scope and requirements
- Evaluate project risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential cost overruns
- Prepare and present cost estimates and detailed project budgets to management and clients for commercial construction projects.
- Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and vendors to secure the best value for the company and clients
- Continuously monitor industry trends, materials, and labor costs to ensure accurate estimates
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of estimates, change orders, and project revisions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of company-wide cost estimation processes and best practices
Education & Qualifications
- Minimum education level of a bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field
- The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience in construction cost estimation
- Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and industry best practices
- Proficient in construction estimating software
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with an aptitude for problem-solving
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications
- Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- A high degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Travel: Travel to and from job sites is required. RAM will compensate for travel expenses if applicable.
Work Environment: Office environment with occasional site visits to construction sites
