POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the “NL” category of employment (non-fixed work week) An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee’s regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.
Salary - AFT - U 18 - Steps 1-2 $55,142 - $57,898Salary for Internal Applicants will be based on Union Negotiated Calculations
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor is responsible for meeting established enrollment, application and yield goals from their assigned territories, coordination of recruitment and follow-up activity for assigned territory and alphabet. Activities include the management of a recruitment territory, development of a comprehensive communication/yield plan, follow-up with prospective students, reviewing of applications, planning and execution of on and off campus recruitment events and other duties as assigned.
DUTIES
Assists with the execution and implementation of the Office of Admissions Recruitment Plan
Coordinates recruitment in assigned territory by representing the College at college fairs, high school visits and other recruitment and yield events.
Evaluates applications from assigned territory or alphabet to determine admissibility to the College
Corresponds with accepted students, applicants and prospects as needed
Assists with the planning and implementation of on and off campus recruitment events (i.e. open houses, yield events, phone-a-thons)
Interviews and counsels prospective students and parents on the opportunities offered at the College
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree.
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one year of college.)
EXPERIENCE:
Some admissions/recruitment experience required. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Experience working with a diverse population, preferably within a higher education environment is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of Slate/Technolutions and Microsoft Office Suite is strongly preferred.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Access to personal vehicle and valid driver’s license is required
Ability to work evening and weekend hours is required
