LOGISTICS COORDINATOR II

Summary of Position :

The Logistics Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient coordination of all logistical operations within the organization. This role involves overseeing the movement, storage, distribution of goods and materials, and supervision of warehouse and delivery personnel; as well as coordinating with various internal departments and external partners to streamline processes and meet organizational objectives.

Accountabilities :

  • Arrange transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery while optimizing costs. Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics service providers.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock levels to meet demand. Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, order fulfillment and dispatching of goods. Implement best practices for warehouse organization, layout, and workflow to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation, such as shipping manifests, customs paperwork, and compliance certificates, is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Stay updated on relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for logistics-related inquiries and updates. Collaborate with internal departments such as sales, procurement, marketing, customer service and HQ Logistics center to coordinate logistics activities effectively.
  • Identify and address any issues or challenges that arise during the warehousing, transportation and distribution process. Develop solutions to optimize logistics processes and minimize disruptions.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cases per hour, cost per case, customer service level / on-time delivery, transportation costs, and inventory turnover.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in logistics and supply chain management. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • A logistics coordinator may need to move around a warehouse, distribution center, or transportation hub to oversee operations. This could involve walking, standing for extended periods, and occasionally lifting or carrying packages or materials.
  • Handling paperwork, operating computer systems, and manipulating inventory may require good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • While heavy lifting may not be a primary job duty for all logistics coordinators, there may be occasions where lifting and carrying packages or materials is necessary, especially in smaller operations or when assisting with inventory management.
  • If the logistics coordinator is responsible for coordinating transportation, they may need a valid driver's license and the ability to drive various types of vehicles, such as vans or trucks, depending on the requirements of the job.
  • Awareness of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to them is crucial, especially in environments where heavy machinery or vehicles are present.
  • The role of a logistics coordinator can be demanding, requiring individuals to work long hours, sometimes in fast-paced environments. Good physical stamina can help individuals cope with the demands of the job effectively.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Much of your work as a logistics coordinator will likely take place in an office environment. You'll typically have a desk, computer, phone, and other office equipment necessary to perform your job duties.

    Qualifications and Skills :

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent aptitude and critical thinking experience.
  • Previous experience in logistics coordination, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
  • Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite, or similar functional software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
