What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Manager/Front Counter Person position at Ramer Small Engine?

In this role, you will be the friendly “front counter person,” actively managing service work while engaging in parts sales and assisting with equipment sales. While experience working on power equipment isn’t required, having a basic understanding of repairs and maintenance will be a valuable asset.
Excellent people skills are essential, as you will interact with many customers walking through our doors each day. Strong computer skills are also important for success in this position.
We appreciate a willingness to learn and adapt to new responsibilities. Currently, we are closed on Saturdays for the off-season, but some Saturday morning shifts will be required during the summer. Candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment and be eager to work hard while staying composed under pressure.
Candidate should feel confident interacting with customers, handling calls about repair status, estimates, and providing general updates.
The position requires familiarity with, or the ability to learn, online parts diagrams and parts ordering. Candidates should have a solid understanding of filing warranty claims with manufacturers and ensuring timely follow-up for reimbursement.
Candidate should feel confident in selling new equipment, such as lawn mowers and chainsaws. It’s essential to listen to customers and recommend products that best meet their needs.

Compensation is hourly plus commission. Our regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Some Saturday hours, typically in the morning, may be needed during the summer and could be possible in the off-season. Employees have the option to work longer hours during busy seasons if they wish, but this is generally not required.
