Basic Function

Ramsey County Parks & Recreation Department is hiring multiple Park Services Coordinators for the summer season!


Park Service Coordinators –
Customer Service

  • As a park services coordinator, you will oversee picnic shelters and pavilions during weekends to provide customer service to facility renters.

  • In this position you can expect to perform clean-up and light maintenance at parks as needed.

  • You will use a Ramsey County vehicle to travel to all parks and carry out assigned tasks

Basic Function:
Based on assignment, to assist in the delivery of Park and Recreation Services in the summer by serving as an on-duty customer and staff liaison picnic reservations, special events and general park use; to assist in the preparation and on-going operation of park facilities, and perform related duties as assigned.

Current hourly wage will be updated as soon as new wage is confirmed.


Please Note: This job posting is being conducted to fill temporary (not to exceed 6 months in length) appointments. The number of hours worked per week and shifts may vary. Applicants chosen for hire from this process will not gain rights or preference for other permanent, Ramsey County jobs. This posting will remain open for application until filled. Park Service Coordinator in Summer


  • Respond to emergency situations within the park system by assisting staff, providing crowd control, and notifying the proper department staff of the emergency.
  • Initiate contact with and responds to requests for assistance from park guests who rent picnic shelters and pavilions, if assigned.
  • Inform Park users of park ordinances and notifies the proper authorities when ordinances are violated.
  • Communicate regularly with the public.
  • Attempt to make immediate repairs and/or cleaning to facilities in need and notify appropriate department staff of emergency repair and/or cleaning needs.
  • Assist with leisure research surveys and park counts.
  • Secure Park facilities at park closing times.

(The work assigned to a position in this classification may not include all possible tasks in this description and does not limit the assignment of any additional tasks in this classification. Regular attendance according to the position’s management approved work schedule is required.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1, 2, 3, 4.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:
Six months of customer service experience.

Substitution:
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications/Licensure:
A valid driver’s license depending on assignment.

Preferred:
Valid Class D driver’s license for the class of vehicles to be driven.

Exam/Screening Process Information

This is a temporary, at-will position. This position requires an open screening and selection process. All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration on an ongoing basis until all positions have been filled.


Definition of Unclassified from the Ramsey County Personnel Act:

Subdivision 1. General. "The appointing authority may discharge employees in the unclassified service with or without cause. Employees in the unclassified service have no right to a grievance appeal from discharge or other disciplinary action under sections 383A.281 to 383A.301. An employee in an unclassified position shall not have tenure but shall be entitled to all benefits associated with tenure such as vacation leave, sick leave, health insurance, and other benefits as determined by the county board."
