JOB TITLE: AUXILIARY TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in a field of education or a related area.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience working with children in an educational setting or K - 12 environment is preferred.
- Must meet all ALSDE requirements for Adjunct Instructor Permit/Certification or have a Child Development Associate certification/credential (minimum 9 hours or approved course work in child development
JOB GOAL: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature and able members of society.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Collaborates with Leat Teacher or peer professionals to establish objectives and plan learning experiences commensurate with state and local guidelines and basic competency requirements.
- Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
- Exhibits positive human relationship skills and maintains acceptable grooming and dress.
- Evaluates students' progress and makes recommendations to Lead Teacher or Resource Teacher regarding students with possible special needs.
- Communicates with parents and colleagues as needed under the direction of Principal or Lead Teacher.
- Assists in maintaining and submitting records, reports and lesson plans under the direction of a Lead or Supervising Teacher.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy and state and federal rules and regulations.
- Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates a professional ethics and leadership.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to create classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Aids Lead/Supervising Teacher in analyzing test data and other available information and plans and implements activities to provide remediation in areas of deficiency.
- Takes reasonable precautions to protect students' equipment, materials and facilities.
- Assists with duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal or Lead Teacher.
