Job Description
Join a dynamic team in a long-term opportunity with per diem benefits! A large utility is seeking a talented construction manager to oversee utility construction projects, including compressors, pump stations, and gas transmission lines. This role focuses on safe, timely, and cost-effective project execution, managing teams, resolving conflicts, and ensuring compliance with standards and documentation.
Key Details :
Pay Rate : $50-$70 / hour
Per Diem : $200 / day (for days worked) for eligible candidates
Expenses & Mileage : Reimbursed for field travel (paid weekly)
Schedule : Primarily field-based with approximately 2 office days per week; some remote work possible
Overtime : Up to ~10 hours / week available (varies by project)
Experience : 8 years in gas, industrial, utility, or wastewater construction management (gas experience preferred)
Start Date : Mid-March (long-term opportunity!)
Responsibilities :
Oversee safety, scope, cost, and schedule during the construction phase of projects.
Report directly to the Project Manager and supervise all team members, including contractors and company employees.
Ensure construction complies with company or industry standards, with input from subject matter experts.
Lead pre-construction meetings focused on safety and communicate schedule or construction recommendations to the Project Manager.
Monitor pre-fabrication and onsite construction, tracking safety, quality, risk, schedule, and budget.
Provide daily progress reports to the Project Manager.
Supervise contract inspectors and address issues related to materials, construction, and scheduling conflicts.
Coordinate the testing and start-up of installed equipment.
Create punch lists and obtain sign-off for the turnover checklist from the Field Leader.
Skills :
Extensive knowledge of construction management and gas facilities construction is a plus.
Strong understanding of field operations and equipment operations.
Excellent conflict management and decision-making abilities.
Proficient in record management and documentation.
Diverse skills in negotiation, organization, planning, and priority-setting.
Demonstrate integrity, trustworthiness, and leadership in managing project outcomes.
Education :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent applicable experience.
