Weekday Survivor Advocate
RACES (Rape, Advocacy, Counseling, Education Services) is seeking compassionate individuals to advocate on behalf of sexual assault survivors ages 3 through adult in local hospital emergency rooms and to offer crisis intervention to their family members. Applicants must have at least six months of paid or volunteer experience in a social service setting, use of a personal cell phone, reliable transportation, and the ability to arrive at Urbana hospitals within 45 minutes. This is a part-time, on-call position. Advocates get paid $30 per day that they are on call whether they are called to the hospital or not and an additional hourly rate of $18 per hour for time spent advocating at the hospital.
Position is Friday on-call shift, running from 8 AM-6 PM. Medical Advocates are free to go about their daily lives while on-call, with the understanding that they must be able to leave immediately for the hospital upon receiving a call.
