What are the responsibilities and job description for the MOHS Laboratory Technician position at Rapid City Medical Center?
Rapid City Medical Center is currently looking for a MOHS Laboratory Technician to join our dermatology team. This person will be responsible for assisting Physicians/Nurses with patient care, clerical tasks, environmental and organizational tasks. They will handle appointment scheduling and provide information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. Must convey a positive image of clinic.

EDUCATION: High school diploma; HT Certification preferred but not required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Performs laboratory functions including specimen grossing, processing, cutting, staining and cover slipping.
• Ensured quality control in collection of specimens, and in ensuring specimen integrity and slide quality.
• Maintains equipment and supplies as needed.
• Complies with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
ABILITIES:
• Ability to exercise independent judgment/decision making and discretion in reporting/distributing results.
• Ability to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff.
• Ability to organize effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily laboratory setting. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, fumes, hazardous materials, noise.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including long periods of standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting and stooping. Must be able to lift/carry/push 50 pounds.
