What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Estimator position at Rapids & Affiliates?
Rapids & Affiliates, is looking to fill a Project Estimator position within our Iowa Office location! The Project Estimator is a critical source of revenue for the business and requires a focus on being very detail oriented with the ability to collaborate with the Construction Support team to develop competitive budgets for projects. The Project Estimator will bid projects throughout the country with a primary focus on Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri.
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluate scope of work and RFQ’s from customers (both public and private) including drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Analyze construction plans, specifications, and contract requirements to prepare accurate estimates for the commercial kitchen equipment package
- Source and obtain pricing for subcontracted work
- Use estimating software to price material and labor for projects based on construction plans and specifications
- Participate in pre-bid reviews to ensure accuracy
- Request and consolidate vendor quotes and proposals for review by leadership
- Other duties as assigned
- Business travel may be required
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read/interpret drawings and prepare thorough and accurate project quotes
- Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer knowledge and proficiency, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a collaborative format with multiple team members
- Strong math skills
- Strong organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks/projects in fast paced environment
- Prior experience in construction industry is a plus
- Familiarity with contractual language a plus
Qualifications:
- Willing to learn and accept new duties and challenges with the intention to find quick and effective resolutions
- Background in Construction/Logistics helpful
- Must be able to work under the pressure of meeting and exceeding projected goals and benchmarks
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
