What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHILD CARE ASSISTANT MANAGER position at Rappahannock Area Ymca?
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA child care program(s).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises the school age child care programs for assigned location(s). Ensures high quality programs.
- Supports YMCA healthy eating and physical activities standards through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality
- Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Reports all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner to Child Care Manager.
- Maintains proper records/department files.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Assists in special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state licensing requirements of program director.
- One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.
- Three years of programmatic experience in a group care for children.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; State Licensing Training Requirements; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Completes Praesidium within 7 days of hire date.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
