What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Support Assistant position at Rathe Associates?
Job Description:
Rathe Associates is looking for a sharp, organized, and dependable person to join our team in an Operations Support Assistant role. The right candidate will have experience with order processing, inventory coordination, and internal systems, and is comfortable communicating with both vendors and customers. This is a critical role that helps keep our internal engine running smoothly.
About Rathe Associates:
At Rathe Associates, our core value is simple: always give more to the customer than they expect. We sell mechanical and plumbing equipment—boilers, water heaters, HVAC systems, radiant floor heating, and more—but our true job is to solve problems.
Founded in 1969, we’ve built a reputation for being the technical experts that customers turn to when they need solutions that work. Our products show up everywhere: homes, skyscrapers, schools, hospitals—anywhere hot water or heating is needed.
What It’s Like to Work Here:
We’re a 30-person team that runs lean, works hard, and helps each other out. Everyone here wears multiple hats and takes pride in their work. We’ve built a culture around being calm, competent, and trusted. Our turnover is extremely low because people like it here—and they grow with us.
Who We’re Looking For:
You’ll be working closely with our Office Manager, Inside Staff, and Sales Team. You'll manage sales orders, place purchase orders, maintain the open order report, assist with inventory, tracking, and much more. You will help clean up and streamline data so our reports reflect accurate, actionable information.
Amongst everything else, we are a sales company—and therefore sales is always part of the role. That includes upselling products, making recommendations, and suggesting additional purchases to take advantage of price breaks when appropriate.
You should be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and likes being the one who makes sure nothing slips through the cracks.

- Enter and manage customer sales orders accurately

How You’ll Benefit from This Role:
- You’ll develop deeper operational knowledge in a technical, fast-moving industry
- You’ll gain experience with vendors, inventory systems, and logistics
- You’ll be part of a tight-knit, well-respected company where your contributions matter
- You’ll sharpen your organizational and communication skills every day
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an operations, sales support, or administrative role
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience working with order entry and ERP systems
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Clear, professional communication skills
- Positive attitude and a proactive mindset
