Accounts Receivable and Collections Specialist - Mays Chemical

Mays Chemical, a Ravago Company is a fully integrated chemical distributor, recognized as an optimal source for chemicals, related raw materials, formulated products, and outsourcing services. Mays is currently recruiting for an Accounts Receivable and Collections Specialist. The selected candidate will be responsible for the full area of accounts receivable, including billing, customer cash applications and collection of receivables. Duties and Responsibilities:   Communicates with customers to resolve problems and negotiate payment schedules for overdue accounts, authorizing credit holds as deemed appropriate. Serve as back-up to the Accounting Manager for new customer record set-up and maintenance, including receipt of all documentation and establishing credit limits. Work with customers in moving payment method to ACH. Run daily billing processes, submitting invoices via customer portals as required. Review aging accounts with Accounting Manager on a regular basis and identify potential bad debt. Write-offs. Collaborates with all AR personnel to accomplish established goals. Assist in fulfilling internal and external audit requests. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.   Education/Experience: AA degree in Accounting or Business Management required and three plus years of collections experience from A-Z. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel (intermediated to advanced), Outlook, and Internet. Analytical and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions based on investigation and judgment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; maintain a high level of accuracy; and self-directed with a strong ability to multi-task. Knowledge and Skills: • Exceptional communication skills, oral and written; ability to work well with internal and external customers in a firm but friendly fashion; demonstrate good judgement in determining when to escalate accounts for follow up by management; ability to deal with difficult situations in a diplomatic and professional manner; and the ability to work in a team environment.
