Position available for experienced Quality Layout Inspector. Typical responsibilities include conducting inspections on precision machined parts with tolerances up to .0001”, utilizing hand measuring tools and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) , and overseeing conformance of parts to AS9100 standards. Position includes reading/interpreting blueprints to conduct inspections on Aerospace, Military, and Racing parts. Familiarity with machining (mills, lathes, gear cutters, etc.) is a bonus. Must have familiarity using hand-measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other tools.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Conduct CMM inspections of miscellaneous parts, gages, and tooling as required.
· Operate various pieces of electronic/ mechanical / optical inspection equipment as required.
· Ability to use common inspection measurement tools, such as Calipers, Micrometers, and Gauge Blocks and Bore scopes
· Good organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
· Work from drawings/blueprints, specifications and instructions.
· Apply math and blueprint reading skills as required to perform day-to-day assignments.
· Layout inspection of prototype and production components using precision instruments.
· Measure dimensions such as angles, arcs, and radii, using combination of aids, such as: surface plate, parallel bars, angle plates, gageblocks, plug pins, v-blocks, etc.
· Must be able to interact with and assist Manufacturing and Engineering personnel in regards to part conformance and process capability.
· MRB activities.
· In-process and final quality acceptance prior to shipment to the customer using visual, measurements, and document review methods.
· Write Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) to investigate cause and corrective action for defects as part of a team.
· Complete and maintain quality documents and files including inspections, FAI, rework, and product certifications per the Quality System.
· Other tasks as directed by the Quality Manager
Bonus Qualifications
· Experience with Zeiss Calypso Software (Prismo & Contura CMM) (Applicants with CMM/Zeiss Familiarity preferred)
· Experience with Faro Arms, profilometers, hardness testers
· Familiarity with machining (lathes, mills, grinders, wire EDM)
· Familiarity with non-destructive testing (Magnetic Particle Inspection, Nital/Temper Etch)
· Familiarity with Gear Grinding, hobbing, cutting
