The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring all the necessary materials, equipment, and services required for a construction project, including identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of goods to maintain project timelines and budget constraints while maintaining quality standards.
Qualified Candidate will have 5-10 years related purchasing experience in a construction environment. Must have excellent communication skills and be strong on the computer.
Key responsibilities include:
- Researching and finding potential vendors who can provide the required construction materials, equipment, and services at competitive prices.
- Negotiating pricing, delivery terms, payment conditions, and quality standards with suppliers to secure the best possible deal for the construction project.
- Creating and processing purchase orders for required materials, ensuring accurate quantities and specifications are ordered.
- Monitoring inventory levels of construction materials to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Ensuring that all purchased materials meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Comparing prices from different suppliers to identify cost-effective options and stay within budget constraints.
- Working closely with head of operations, project coordinator, site supervisor and other stakeholders to understand project needs and identify necessary materials.
- Identifying potential supply chain disruptions and mitigating risks associated with material availability and pricing fluctuations.
