What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designated Engineering Representative (REMOTE) position at Raytheon Intelligence & Space?

The Resilient Navigation (R-NAV) Department is seeking a Designated Engineering Representative (DER) for Military Standard Operations (MSO) program support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting all DER associated certification activities related to US Government Department of Defense Organizations using FAA Regulations for military hardware and software as well as International Military Organizations and require Civil or Military Authority approval per each country. The R-NAV DER will operate as an individual contributor to assist Raytheon in obtaining airworthiness approval under the Systems and Equipment Engineering FAA DER Technical Discipline for 14 CFR part 23, part 25, part 27 and part 29 aircraft types for both hardware and software activities. The DER will be Raytheon’s interface with US Government DOD customers, International Military Customers, International Airworthiness Certification Programs, and the FAA. The contractor will provide guidance to the Raytheon execution teams; serve as the customer’s delegated FAA representative, and Raytheon suppliers. The DER will execute stages of involvement (SOI) reviews and provide US Government and industry teams description of issues discovered during the formal reviews and paths forward to resolve the issues to obtain the customer approval and FAA or designated airworthiness office approval. Designee shall have demonstrated good performance and has proper designation/authorization for MSO type projects.
Required Skills:
Current Systems and Equipment Engineering FAA Company DER appointment in accordance with 14 CFR section 183.29 or a Consultant DER appointment.
Current US Government DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance within one year
Minimum of 12 years of related aviation engineering experience with the breadth and depth of experience to know overall AW requirements regardless of the final AW Authority
Comparable activities need to have been accomplished whether done against FAA criteria (14 CFR Part 2X), U.S. military criteria (MIL-HDBK-516C), U.K. MoD criteria (DEF STAN 00-970), or any other mature recognized industry standards.
Must be able to communicate effectively with program management, program engineering, Leadership Team, and with the applicable Airworthiness Authority.
Demonstrated experience developing and presenting engineering and FAA briefings to FAA, DoD and International military customers and Raytheon program teams.
Minimum of 10 years of direct experience as Company FAA DER or FAA DER Consultant.
In-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of Quality Control / Quality Assurance, parts receiving, inspection needs tied to test, and documentation needed in support of certifiable installations (Certificate of Conformity CofC, Airworthiness Approval Tag (8130-3).

Required Education:
Bachelor’s of Science degree in an accredited engineering discipline
