Sr. Staff Accountant

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for booking transactions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, month end accruals, and other accounting tasks. The Ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly accruals and other transactions as assigned.
• Assist with Annual Audit as required.
• Booking Cash, AP, AR, and Payroll entries in MIP Fund Accounting.
• Assist with ACH/check run as necessary.
• Preparation of monthly bank and investment reconciliations
• Timely resolution of reconciliation issues.
• Assist with the annual audit.
• Ability to work with other teams in the organization.
• Special projects and analysis, as required.
•  Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting. 
• The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of work experience in accounting or fund accounting. 
• A strong understanding of GAAP with the ability to research and apply accounting standard codification. 
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in teams.
• Must be able to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and highly detail-oriented.
• Effective written and verbal communicator.
• Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills is required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to acquire proficiency in MIP Fund Accounting software. 
• The ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Federal Grant Accounting Experience is strongly preferred. 
• The preferred candidate should have an understanding of the operations of non-profit organizations and governmental programs.
