The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for booking transactions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, month end accruals, and other accounting tasks. The Ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly accruals and other transactions as assigned.
- Assist with Annual Audit as required.
- Booking Cash, AP, AR, and Payroll entries in MIP Fund Accounting.
- Assist with ACH/check run as necessary.
- Preparation of monthly bank and investment reconciliations
- Timely resolution of reconciliation issues.
- Assist with the annual audit.
- Ability to work with other teams in the organization.
- Special projects and analysis, as required.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of work experience in accounting or fund accounting.
- A strong understanding of GAAP with the ability to research and apply accounting standard codification.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and highly detail-oriented.
- Effective written and verbal communicator.
- Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to acquire proficiency in MIP Fund Accounting software.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Federal Grant Accounting Experience is strongly preferred.
- The preferred candidate should have an understanding of the operations of non-profit organizations and governmental programs.
