Manufacturing Engineering & Maintenance Manager
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring optimal equipment performance, facility upkeep, and continuous process improvements. This role provides technical leadership, project management, and team development to support short- and long-term operational strategies.
Daily Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage, prioritize, and provide direction for the manufacturing engineering and maintenance departments.
- Oversee team training and development to enhance technical skills.
- Handle managerial tasks such as coaching, performance reviews, timecards, and time-off approvals.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Ensure 24/7 technical support availability for critical plant equipment and facility needs.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs using maintenance management software.
- Oversee facility repairs, maintenance, and grounds upkeep, including snow removal.
- Ensure proper waste storage/disposal and compliance with local regulations.
- Develop and maintain a spare parts stocking program for key equipment.
Process & Operational Efficiency
- Track repair and maintenance spending, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead root cause analysis to improve product quality, safety, and productivity while reducing downtime and costs.
- Align engineering projects with the company’s short- and long-term operational strategies.
- Partner with Plant Management, Production, Safety, and Quality teams to achieve and exceed operational KPIs.
Safety & Compliance
- Coordinate annual safety inspections for cranes, hoists, fire systems, and oil/septic clean-out systems.
- Ensure processes and procedures are in place for safe and effective plant operations.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and maintenance.
- 10 years of experience troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, controls, and electrical systems.
- Experience in facility maintenance, including repairs, contractor oversight, and project management.
- Proven ability to manage preventive maintenance programs and track work orders.
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills, with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Ability to prioritize business objectives over personal objectives and work cross-functionally.
Preferred Experience:
- Automotive equipment industry experience, including engines, engine testing, and fuel systems.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment requiring occasional heavy lifting and manual labor.
- Clean, climate-controlled facility (air-conditioned and heated).
