Job Description:
The Construction Field Surveyor will perform tasks requiring the application of survey techniques and running field survey equipment on job sites. This includes work in the areas of survey, GPS, Total Station, stringless paving, field integration, 3D modeling and other administrative functions. This position will spend 90% of time on job sites and 10% in an office setting.
- Use and manage GPS and robotic total station on job sites
- Set up and run site equipment for GPS and total station on job sites
- Works with project managers and superintendents to develop control points for stringless paving operations
- Setup total stations and perform necessary checks to support stringless paving operations
- Export points from 3D model for field crews
- Reviewing project CAD files and plans for accuracy
- Collaborates with project managers and superintendents to discuss problems and challenges while helping to create solutions in a cost effective and efficient manner.
- Assist field superintendents in troubleshooting GPS devices
- Participate in all aspects of the RBE safety program.
- Work collaboratively and create relationships with project team members and office personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience working as a technician or surveyor in heavy highway construction
- Experience running a total station, Data Collector, sight/laser levels and other tools and instruments
- Ability to understand and interpret civil shop drawings
- Experience with Trimble software, Bluebeam software and Microstation preferred
- Prior experience in a relevant job preferred
- Strong interest in the construction industry, specifically heavy civil construction preferred.
