Position Objectives/Summary:
The CAM in Training position is designed for individuals seeking to obtain their Florida Community Association Manager (CAM) license and advance into an Assistant Community Association Manager role. This position provides hands-on experience in community association management while working under the direct supervision of licensed managers. The CAM in Training will assist in the day-to-day operations of community associations, gaining exposure to property maintenance, board relations, financial management, vendor coordination, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
This position provides a structured path toward obtaining a CAM license and developing the necessary skills for advancement into an Assistant Community Association Manager role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting routine property inspections and identifying maintenance needs.
- Support communication with homeowners, board members, and vendors to facilitate smooth operations.
- Aid in overseeing contracted vendors, ensuring quality service and contract compliance.
- Help coordinate general maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects.
- Attend and observe board meetings and annual owner meetings to learn governance procedures.
- Assist in preparing reports, budgets, and financial documentation under supervision.
- Learn and assist with compliance management, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local statutes.
- Support preparation of association newsletters, board reports, and other communications.
- Participate in training sessions and hands-on learning opportunities related to community management.
- Gain familiarity with association governing documents, policies, and industry best practices.
- Shadow experienced managers to learn problem-solving, conflict resolution, and effective community leadership.
- Aid in the maintenance of accurate records, files, and correspondence pertinent to community operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Strong interest in community association management and willingness to pursue a Florida CAM license.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and property management software is a plus.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Must obtain a Florida Community Association Manager (CAM) license within a designated time frame upon hire.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
