Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and operationally driven Sr. Manager of Operations to lead and scale
the company's operational performance across a growing portfolio of programs and platforms. This
role is responsible for overseeing core functions such as supply chain, planning, manufacturing,
program execution, business development integration, and customer delivery. The Sr. Manager of
Operations will also play a pivotal role in shaping strategic priorities and ensuring long-term
readiness to meet growing customer demands and emerging market opportunities.
This position is primarily on-site at our Baltimore, MD facility, with travel of approximately 3–4 days
per month to customer sites, conferences, or business development engagements.
Key Focus Areas – Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Lead strategic planning, capital investment decisions beyond routine
operations, and engagement with key internal and external stakeholders to advance the
company’s mission and growth strategy.
Business Development Support: Strengthen market position by identifying, developing, and
securing new business opportunities across core and adjacent markets. Support operational
capture planning, stakeholder analysis, and competitive positioning.
Market Expansion: Evaluate and pursue opportunities to expand into adjacent markets or
capabilities through organic growth and potential acquisitions.
Performance Forecasting: Guide operational forecasting, pipeline analysis, and reporting in
collaboration with finance and cross-functional teams to ensure business alignment and
visibility.
Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers,
strategic partners, and regulatory or procurement entities to support ongoing and future
program needs.
Operational Strategy: Drive enterprise-level operational strategy, including long-term
capacity planning, resource alignment, and business process optimization.
Cross-Functional Integration: Integrate efforts across Business Development, Engineering,
Program Management, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to ensure program alignment and
delivery. Bridge the gap between customer needs and internal execution from proposal
through delivery.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor cross-functional teams focused on operational
excellence, business development integration, and collaborative execution. Develop
performance expectations and ensure continuous professional growth.
Industry Intelligence: Conduct and support operational market research, competitive
analysis, and monitoring of industry trends to inform strategic decision-making.
Execution Management: Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and track multiyear
operational plans, ensuring strategic initiatives move from concept to execution
effectively.
Continuous Improvement: Maintain awareness of industry and organizational trends;
proactively identify operational risks and develop strategies for ongoing performance
optimization.
Qualifications
15 years of experience in operations, government contracting, or related industries.
10 years of leadership experience in operations or program management, including 5
years in senior-level roles.
Proven P&L responsibility for large-scale operations or programs (>$20M annually), with
strong and measurable results.
Strategic partner to executive leadership with a demonstrated track record of driving
organizational success.
Experience navigating complex and evolving operational environments, especially within
small to mid-sized businesses.
Strong planning, decision-making, and judgment skills informed by deep operational and
industry knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; capable of engaging senior
stakeholders and external partners with clarity and confidence.
Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performance teams under demanding
conditions.
Experience in defense, maritime, or technical sectors is a plus.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and change management capabilities.
