Summary
The Engineering Change Manager position is to execute and manage all internal Engineering Change activities from creation to closure. Track all activities and engage all cross-functional team members and departments necessary to support change activities to ensure rapid and successful customer service. This role develops and maintains positive relationships with marketing, plant operations and sales teams. The position requires an aggressive and creative entrepreneurial spirit and attitude, demonstrated by open and cooperative verbal and written communications. The Engineering Change Manager will be innovative, creative and communicative and have an unwavering “can do” attitude in engaging and delivery with internal and external customers.
Essential Functions

- Daily coordination with Sales, Marketing, and Plant Operations, including handing off all information regarding interactions with customers that the Product Engineering group may have each day. This is important so that the Sales team members will remain aware of the most up-to-date business information regarding each customer and their latest contact with RDI.
- Oversight, management, development, maintenance and tracking of all RD Industries, Inc. product portfolio as related to SPO processes, Product Development and any improvements and all internal Engineering Change related processes.
- Helps coordinate technical activities / testing with the products architect (R&D), helping take preliminary prototypes and models from concept to production ready.
- Collaborates with the products architect to take product structures presented by Sales into prototype development modeling, primarily as an internal consultant and advisor.
- Manages products through the development cycle, including, but not limited to:
- Design validation of product concept
- Quality as it applies to ISO 9001 and 13485 standards in product development and product assurance
- Product risk assessment and mitigation
- Design and ordering of tooling in pre-production
- Testing
- Creation of Standard Testing Protocols and all related documentation
- FMEA – Failure Mode and Effect Analysis testing
- Life-cycle endurance testing
- Limited production for field and lab testing
- SPO processing and controlled release of samples for coordinated testing
- Product development auditing and “go-to-production” readiness testing
- “Release for Production” coordination and facilitation
- Coordinates and manages continuous improvement of products
- Defines and captures all intellectual capital resulting from activities of the position in the Product Master Files
- Coordinates and tracks all technical documentation supporting product development
- Cross trains and develops others in the Product Engineering group
- Other engineering responsibilities as directed
