The IT Service Desk Technician Intern provides first-line support for IT-related issues across REA Magnet Wire’s North American Operations. This includes answering phone and automated helpdesk calls, performing routine computer maintenance, and troubleshooting via phone, remote technician tools, or hands-on support for manufacturing environments operating 24/7.
This position is also responsible for first-call support of IT equipment at the local manufacturing facility, including (but not limited to) process data systems, manufacturing execution systems, office computers, warehouse systems, printers, and general application support.

- Job Type: Internship
- Pay: $20.00 per hour
- Start Date: First week of May.
- End Date: 1-year internship with the possibility of extension.
- Schedule: Flexible. We require candidates to be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, but we prefer someone who can work closer to 30 hours.

The IT Service Desk Technician Intern provides first-line support for IT-related issues across REA Magnet Wire’s North American Operations. This includes answering phone and automated helpdesk calls, performing routine computer maintenance, and troubleshooting via phone, remote technician tools, or hands-on support for manufacturing environments operating 24/7.
This position is also responsible for first-call support of IT equipment at the local manufacturing facility, including (but not limited to) process data systems, manufacturing execution systems, office computers, warehouse systems, printers, and general application support.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Responds to Helpdesk calls; installs, configures, and performs first-level diagnostics for office and shop floor computers.
- Repairs and manages inventory of PCs, laser scanners, printers, a nd other IT equipment at t he local manufacturing facility.
- Installs and troubleshoots software as needed, maintaining strong knowledge of OS imaging and software packaging/installation techniques.
- Creates and maintains documentation for local systems, hardware, and inventories.
- Logs and tracks repairs, problem resolutions, and other activities using the IT Service Desk ticketing and knowledge base system.
- Participates in self-directed video training and classroom training as instructed.
- Stays up to date with operating systems such as Windows and Linux for both desktop and mobile platforms.
- Maintains a high level of knowledge in Microsoft Office applications and helps develop solutions using MS Office, report writing applications, and data connectivity techniques to improve user productivity.
- Performs other duties and assists other departments or plants as directed by the IT Support Supervisor.
- Prefer a full-time or part-time student pursuing a degree in Computer Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- Flexible hours: 20-30 hours per week, year-round.
- At least one (1) year of experience with computer hardware and software.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Hardware proficiency, including PC and laptop troubleshooting, laser printer troubleshooting, touchscreens, and barcode scanners.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts and hardware, including network switches and cabling.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

- Work Environment: Incumbent will occasionally be exposed to Cold Temperatures <65 degrees and Heat >80 degrees. The environment is well lit; the noise level is often minimal, but incumbent may be exposed to higher than 85 decibels on occasion.
