What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Coordinator position at Reach Inc Alaska?
This position will be responsible for providing basic maintenance and repairs between tenants including but not limited to minor sheetrock repairs, painting, replacing lighting, minor plumbing, and cleaning, as requested. Assists with maintaining and operating building systems. Supports REACH’s enterprise activities as requested. Supports REACH’s fleet of vehicles as necessary. Supports summer and winter grounds keeping at all REACH properties. This position requires the ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
This position will perform maintenance, labor, and minor repairs on REACH owned facilities in support of REACH’s vision, mission, and goals. Facilities include the administration building, group homes, and apartment complexes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Understand and comply with all REACH policies and procedures, as well as enterprises and facilities procedures
- Create maintenance schedules for all facilities
- Inspect facilities as scheduled and report maintenance and repair needs to supervisor
- Check, prioritize, and complete work orders daily
- Repair, prep & paint sheetrock and concrete surfaces
- Install and/or replace trim and cove base
- Replace doors and windows
- General clean up after tenants move out of apartments and offices
- Minor plumbing such as: unclog drains, replace faucets and toilets, and replace appliances
- Minor electrical such as: replace lighting and electrical outlets in existing locations
- Minor mechanical such as: replace headlights on vehicles and spark plugs on lawn mowers
- Provide Operations Director with an estimate of labor hours and material/tools/supplies needed for projects
- Communicate effectively with supervisor via phone, text, email, etc.
- Move office and residential furniture as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to estimate hours and material cost of building maintenance projects
- Knowledge of basic facilities maintenance tasks
- Working knowledge of the safe and proper use of tools common to building, and grounds maintenance
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of safe handling of maintenance waste and hazardous materials
- Proficiency in use and operation of hand and powered tools and equipment
- Knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel and Word)
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions
Position Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience with residential property maintenance and painting
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Preferred: Minimum two years’ experience in building maintenance, or equivalent position or vocational education relevant to position
Physical Requirements:
Physical Requirements: The duties of this position are physically demanding requiring the employee to work in multiple indoor and outdoor environments utilizing a full range of motion including but not limited to standing, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, twisting, stooping, and lifting. This position will require visual abilities and physical dexterity to use both hand and power tools, climb ladders, carry supplies, and provide landscaping and snow removal services. This position will require the employee to drive a vehicle.
Able to lift 50 pounds to shoulder height throughout shift. Ability to perform physically demanding work. Ability to use and operate a variety of maintenance tools and equipment safely.
Conditions of Employment
- Must pass the pre-employment background check and maintain the ability to pass throughout employment with REACH
- A valid Driver License, personal vehicle insurance, submission of DMV report
- Completion of Bloodborne pathogen training with in 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
