Job Summary
Located inside the Bullitt County Detention Center, our SAP program is a 40 bed women’s treatment center. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This position involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with clients to promote recovery and improve their overall well-being.
This position is a 1099-contractual position that does not offer benefits. Free CADC/LCADC supervision.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients effectively in their recovery journey.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions to foster a supportive environment for individuals in recovery.
- Provide crisis management support to clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies related to substance use.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards, including ICD-10 coding.
- Offer specialized care for clients dealing with PTSD and other co-occurring disorders.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience in substance abuse counseling or related fields is preferred.
-A bachelor‘s degree in a human relations field is a necessary qualification
-Willingness to get TCADC certified
- Familiarity with medical records management and documentation practices is preferred
- Strong background in crisis management techniques and interventions preferred
- Experience with group therapy facilitation and individual counseling sessions.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing strategies and their application in treatment settings.
