What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Reaching Beyond Limits?
Essential Job Duties:
- A direct support professional shall be responsible for the daily care, training and supervision of individuals. These duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist clients with self-care skills (i.e. hygiene, bathroom, feeding).
- Intensive supervision of clients.
- Creating and executing activities (i.e. art, crafts, cooking lessons).
- Assigned cleaning duties.
- Socialization with clients.
- Supervising community outings.
- Collaboration with team members.
- Help all individuals on and off the vans every morning and afternoon
- Occasionally check with drivers to see if any changes with transportation have occurred.
- Report changes to supervisor.
- Assist individuals with hanging coats/backpacks and taking lunches to the kitchen.
- Check individual's backpacks for notes or spending money.
- Give to appropriate staff.
- Assist individuals with bathroom needs
- Assist individuals with daily activities (i.e. as chores, hygiene, games, community outings)
- Ensure you are always supervising the individual assigned to you.
- 1:1 staff should always be near their client
- Have a complete understating of each consumer and their needs.
- Read ISP for each consumer.
- Provide a fun and engaging experience for individuals and staff
- Plan and execute activities as assigned & assist others during activities
- Attend staff meeting every Wednesday
- Help to maintain cleanliness
- Assist with end of the day cleanup
- Complete assigned monthly progress notes within 5 working days of the end of each month.
- Complete 24 hours of required annual training.
- Be a team player- offer help to other staff where help is needed
- Communicate!
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push/pull/lift to 50 pounds.
