Position Overview
As a Manual Lathe Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual machining equipment to produce high-precision components for industrial bakery systems. You will interpret engineering drawings, ensure quality standards, and contribute to the efficient production of machine components and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities

Precision Machining – Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine machining processes. Set up and operate manual and CNC mills, lathes, saws, drill presses, and surface grinders.

Programming & Setup – Edit and troubleshoot CNC programs using G & M Code and conversational programming. Select tooling, calculate feeds and speeds, and optimize machining conditions.

Quality & Inspection – Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to inspect parts and maintain tight tolerances (≤0.001”).

Assembly & Fabrication – Align, fit, and assemble machine components per engineering specifications. Adjust machine elements, conveyor systems, and welding applications as needed.

Technical Leadership – Provide guidance to machinists as needed. Assist in training and troubleshooting manufacturing challenges.

Safety & Maintenance – Follow all safety protocols, maintain clean work areas, and conduct routine machine maintenance.

Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
-
Proficiency in large manual lathe machining, CNC programming, tooling selection, and machining processes.

Experience with Hurco, Fanuc, and Proto Trak CNC controls is a plus.

Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and assembly drawings.

Solid problem-solving skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Journeyman machinist certification is a plus.
Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience; vocational-technical school training preferred.

4 years of precision machining experience, including 2 years of CNC machine setup, programming, and operation.

Ability to operate all types of CNC and manual machine tools to manufacture complex components.

Certified forklift operator’s license required.

Proficiency in trigonometry, geometry, and machining-related calculations.

Must have personal measuring and hand tools, including micrometers, wrenches, sockets, and screwdrivers.
Working Conditions

Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.

Frequent use of hands to handle tools, operate machinery, and inspect components.
