Position Overview:
The Reading Parking Authority is seeking a dedicated and organized HR Assistant to join our Human Resources department. The HR Assistant will provide administrative support to the HR team, assist in day-to-day HR operations, and ensure smooth execution of HR functions. This position is vital to maintaining effective human resources services for the authority and providing an excellent employee experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and assisting with new hire onboarding.
- Maintain and update employee records, including personal information, benefits, and payroll details.
- Process and track employee leave requests, including vacation, sick leave, and FMLA.
- Prepare HR documents, including employment contracts, offer letters, and job descriptions.
- Assist with employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary actions as directed by HR leadership.
- Coordinate and schedule employee training sessions and development activities.
- Support the administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits programs.
- Handle general HR inquiries and provide timely, accurate information to employees.
- Assist with payroll processing and ensure all necessary HR documentation is accurate for payroll purposes.
- Assist in compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
- Assist with special HR projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an HR assistant or administrative role.
- Familiarity with HR software Paylocity and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.

Working Conditions:
- Part Time, Monday through Friday.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
