The Academy Counselor provides counseling as a direct service to students; collaborates with classroom teachers to develop strategies to improve students' social emotional competencies; participates in IEP and case management meetings; assists teachers with developing intervention plans; coordinates transitions and fulfills other responsibilities as outlined in the job description.Qualifications: Masters Degree DESE licensure as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor requiredExcellent oral and written communication skills requiredKnowledge of current trends and best practices in promoting the social and emotional well-being of childrenKnowledge in trauma informed practices and/or Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) a plusAt least 3 years of experience in an educational role with children needing therapeutic intervention preferredExperience with Functional Behavior Assessments and data collection to monitor and measure student growth and the impact of therapeutic interventions Knowledge of human service agencies and processes for accessing servicesExcellent collaborator with families, school district personnel, and program staffAbility to work both independently and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholdersKnowledge of appropriate technology necessary for accessing services, communicating with families and coordinating with school personnelCertification in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention (CPI) or similar training or willingness to be trainedPhysical ability and willingness to fulfill job responsibilitiesAdditional qualifications as specified in the job description
