Interim Position - December 16, 2024 - mid April 2025
THE ROLE:
The Education Cooperative Interim School Adjustment Counselor for TEC High School currently serves students in grades 8-12 at 141 Mansion Drive, East Walpole, MA.
OUR ORGANIZATION:
The Education Cooperative (TEC) is an educational collaborative and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in E. Walpole, MA that develops and coordinates educational and organizational programs to meet the needs of our 17 member communities and their students in a way that complements and strengthens their school programs and expands opportunities for their students, educators and communities in the most cost effective manner.
TEC High School is a DESE-approved Public Day School that provides a student-centered, therapeutic setting and supportive academic experience to adolescents in grades 8-12. Our experienced, DESE-certified classroom teachers and special educators help students master a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, while a full-time licensed clinical staff assists students in reaching their social-emotional development goals. All Teachers are members of the Massachusetts Teacher Retirement System as we are an extension of the Public School System.
WHO WE SERVE
Students at TEC High School contend with anxiety, depression, ASD, ADHD, mood disorders, and other mental health challenges. Many have significant histories of trauma, experience with bullying, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and school avoidance. Students typically score in the average to above-average intelligence range but may also struggle with executive functioning issues and specific learning disabilities. The majority of our students are college-bound. TEC High School welcomes student enrollment directly from hospitalization or following long-term school absence. Length of enrollment varies; 40-day extended evaluations are an option.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct clinical services to students on caseload in alignment with their IEPs
Consult and collaborate daily with program staff in order to support development of students’ academic and behavioral skills
Communicate with parents/caregivers to ensure an effective partnership between home and school
Liaison with sending districts and community providers
Co-lead DBT Groups
Provide risk assessments
Maintain and document relevant student data
Provide direct care to students including assessments of new student, treatment plans, progress notes, & IEP Progress Reports
Complete all required IEP paperwork in alignment with established timelines
Actively participate in special education team meetings
Assist the Program Director in the intake of student referrals
Participate in staff and other professional development meetings, conferences and other training, such as Safety Care
Ability to drive vans as needed
Other relevant duties, as assigned
