The Senior accountant will provide a key role in maintaining the accuracy of the General Ledger. Responsible for analyzing and reconciling detailed general ledger accounts as assigned. Researches and resolves discrepancies and accounting errors. Completes related reports, summaries, and records.
Summaryof Essential Job Functions
- Reconciles accounts and statistical data and fully analyzes financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
- Analyzes financial information
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions. Certain areas include daily balancing process, GL coding and reconciliation to appropriate management reporting coding, Income recalculations, loan accounting review.
- Assists Controller in reviewing month end financials, and conducting monthly variance analysis.
- Complete monthly close and timely reconciliation of GL (reconciliations include loan clearing accounts, up front fees, Loan deferrals and other accounts).
- Ensures that information is complete, accurate and timely and in accordance with company guidelines.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Assumes responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of assigned accounting functions.
- Completes accounting functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Back up to the Controller for duties assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting and minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
- Prefer expertise in Commercial Lending accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with intercompany transactions and clearing accounts are a plus.
- CPA preferred
- Intermediate level of excel knowledge
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, employees, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
- Able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
